Principal's Report

Tim_1.jpg

Our students have had a brilliant start to 2022, despite the COVID challenges children have settled in very well with learning units occurring across all grades. Our school values have been front and centre with many highlights of students setting challenging goals to work towards this year. We have been particularly impressed with our Year 5 and 6 students who have put their names forward for leadership opportunities including house captains and Student Voice Team.

COVID-19 update

Our community have been very supportive with this challenge, and I would like to thank everyone for their ongoing efforts to keep our school community safe. We have only had 3 positive cases across the school all in separate classrooms with no secondary cases recorded. A number of students are isolating at home due to being close contacts but are engaging in the Virtual Learning Centre until they return to the classroom. We encourage families to continue to collect RAT kits when required and test children if they are showing symptoms.

Values Hook Term 1

We have collectively had a calm and focused start to the year with clear and high expectations being set by teachers across our school. Underlying this is our responsibility to live our school values in how we conduct ourselves, make decisions and run our day-to-day business across the school. This holds true for all members of our school community – staff, students, parents, and carers.

Our initial hook is linked with Aspiration to start the school year: Best Foot Forward

Grounds/Facilities Update

Our playground in the Grace Crichton-Gill ELC is now completed. The children are loving the new space and challenges it is providing. We are continuing to develop the landscaping around the equipment which includes grass and plants.

Our basketball court repair is also now finalised after some flood damage during the holidays. Shortly we will complete the line marking however the fences are now removed and full court games have re commenced.

We have also recently purchased new furniture for classrooms to support flexible seating plans. The new furniture includes desks and tables at different heights to support students' varying styles of learning.
