Principal's Report
Term 3 is well under way and as I visit classrooms our value of Aspiration shines through, students are motivated to learn and reach for goals they have set for themselves. Our reading program continues to grow and I am always impressed by the number of certificates that come across my desk to sign, some students reaching the 175 mark in Term 3. I would continue to encourage families to support students with their reading in order to achieve milestones and benchmarks throughout the year.
Pipe Works
Over the past few weeks, you may have seen machinery on the property adjacent to our oval. Tas Water have been undertaking pipe works to improve water supply to Greater Hobart area. These works have now moved to the school side of the rivulet and are impacting on some of our school grounds. Please be aware of these works if you are accessing our school site outside of school hours. We hope the works will be completed within the next week or two.
Year 4-6 Student Survey
The wellbeing of all children and students is important to the Department of Education. An annual Student Wellbeing and Engagement Survey will be undertaken in schools this August. All students in Years 4–12 will be surveyed to share views on their own wellbeing. The survey results will help our school to understand the wellbeing needs of students and for the Department of Education to support these needs. The survey will be open from 23 August to 17 September. The survey will provide valuable data on the wellbeing of students’ and identify key issues that may need addressing (eg belonging; connectedness to school).
Parent Surveys
Each year the Department of Education conducts School Satisfaction Surveys in Tasmanian Government schools, to gain feedback on what you think our schools do well and where you think we may improve. Once relevant information is sent to families, we encourage you to complete the survey which will inform our school planning and decision making in the future.
Braille Literacy Workshop
Last Friday our wonderful support team coordinated a state-wide event with Vision Australia. This event was an online workshop to connect visually impaired students with each other across the state, students engaged in a range of online events and feedback was very positive around the support our school has offered the service. Congratulations to Mrs Westerhof and her team for coordinating the event.
