Dear Families, 

Each day, our students are participating in the UFLI Program (University of Florida Literacy Institute). This evidence-based program runs for 30 minutes each morning and provides carefully structured lessons that build essential reading and phonics skills. All teachers in the Year 1/2 Pod teach UFLI as the first session of the day—ensuring every child gets the best start to their learning. Every day at school counts, and every day of practice matters! 

Alongside our academic focus, we’re also supporting student wellbeing and behaviour. This week, students have been learning about the 5 L’s—a simple, effective way to help children understand what good listening looks like: 

• Lips are closed 

• Legs are still 

• Lap is empty 

• Looking at the speaker 

• Listening ears are on 

These skills are helping students become active, respectful learners and community members in the classroom.
