I was so excited to witness a group of our students perform at MONA recently as part of the 24CG Spring Festival. Mr Curley has worked with a group of 45 students to form a large rock band. There were lead singers, guitarists, drummers and many more. Our students did a fantastic job and I'm sure will remember the positive experience for years to come. Our value of COURAGE was in full site for the world to see!
Governor’s Visit
Last Wednesday we had the pleasure of welcoming the Governor of Tasmania to our school, the Honourable Barber Baker. Her visit was a part of the Smith Family Learning Club which happens each Wednesday after school in our Flexible Learning Space. Some of our students had the chance to ask the Governor questions and share their work. It was fantastic to share our school with the Governor.

I would like to congratulate 5/6 Slater-Gatenby for their efforts entering the above competition run by Tas Networks. The class was selected as the runner up school for 2021, winning $250 worth of online gift vouchers at Teacher Superstore www.teachersuperstore.com.au.
World Teachers Day
Last Friday we celebrated the work of our wonderful teachers by sharing a morning tea. This event was to thank our teachers for their hard work and expertise as part of World Teachers Day. As Principal of AFPS I am very proud of our teachers who will always go above and beyond to support students and our wider community.
Christmas Carols event
We are excited to announce the return of our Christmas Carols event after a year off due to COVID-19. This event will again be a great opportunity for our community to come together and celebrate the school year while showcasing student work and raising money for community and school events. During the event we will have craft and food stalls, sporting activities, classes singing Christmas Carols and much more. Ove the coming weeks we will share more information and details.
Hats in the playground during break times
I would like to remind our community that in Term 4 we require all students and staff to wear hats when outside. This is part of our Sun Safe Policy and links with our Eat Well, Move Well Policy. If students forget to wear a hat outside then they will be directed to a shade area in their learning/play space.
