Firstly I would like to acknowledge the support our community has offered our school today in understanding the need for an early closing time. We certainly recognise the situation is not ideal but we thank you for understanding.
We held our School Association AGM yesterday with around 8 community members plus staff representatives attending. The meeting was very productive and I would like to thank the Association for their support during 2018-2019. We discussed several topics and the Association agreed to financially support some key projects throughout 2019. This includes values signage around the school including a mural on our bus shelter, funds to support grade 6 camp, levelled student readers, new tables in the kitchen just to name a few.
It was fantastic to see so many parents and family members attending our Early Years Athletics Carnival last week. Despite the arctic conditions the students had a fantastic time and had great fun participating in the athletic activities.
Last week we said farewell to Chris Dand as he was successful in an application to take on another challenge. We thank Chris for the contribution he has made to our school impacting student support, breakfast club and extra-curricular activities like futsal and netball.
We will also be farewelling Chris Raspin at the end of this term departing our school to enjoy her well-earned retirement. I would like to thank Chris for her efforts supporting both students and staff in our school as part of our senior staff team and shaping schools culture.
Corinne Dorsett-Dand will also leave us at the end of Term 1 to take up a role in the DoE supporting students with disabilities. This is a great opportunity for Corinne to share her knowledge and take on a new challenge. We look forward to welcoming Corinne back in Term 3 as the role is a short term secondment. Our leadership team is using the next few weeks to work with the DoE and ensure we have the right personnel stepping in to the vacant roles ready to hit the ground running in Term 2.
Finally I would like to remind families about our final assembly on Thursday next week. This will be a full school assembly with all students attending. Our aim is to structure the space to support as many community members attending as possible.
