A big welcome back to our students and families for the beginning of Term 3, it was brilliant to see all the smiling faces yesterday and excitement around the school. After a very challenging Term 2 we hope to settle quickly into routines and focus on teaching and learning.
Our focus for the beginning of this term is “First time, every time” we are encouraging students to invest in our value of growth and strive to follow instructions from the beginning of a task to ensure success and safety for all. Teachers will link this hook throughout learning over the next 3 weeks and focus on it during their weekly value lesson.
COVID-19 update
While it is exciting that we are starting to see ‘normal’ life return in some ways, it is important as a community we remain vigilant. We continue to maintain a number of precautions across our school, such as good hygiene practices, extra cleaning and practising physical distancing where we can. We are still encouraging parents and carers to “stop, drop and go” and “collect and go” to ensure safe practices however we welcome families to contact staff or visit staff if required.
Assemblies
As a school we are commencing assemblies again in Term 3 and are inviting parents/carers to attend, we do however require 1.5metres physical distancing in our gym for all adults so capacity for an audience will be reduced. Parent/Carers will have to sign in if attending the assembly. Our assemblies will commence at 2:00pm on Thursdays each fortnight beginning next week with Kinder – 2/3 classes. Attached to our newsletter is a full schedule for assemblies this term.
Staffing
I would like to welcome back the following staff after periods of leave during Term 2 - Lauren Sackley, Pip Bailey, Kat Dawson and Lee-Anne Hines. I would also like to welcome Mr Curley for an extra day per week to increase our Music Program and James Stewart who will increase to full time and undertake STEM and Numeracy roles.
Swimming and Water Safety Programs
After a long period of planning due to COVID-19 the Department of Education has released their schedule for SWSP for the remaining of 2020. As a school we are very lucky to be included in the schedule. Our Year 3-5 students will commence their 2 week program on 23 November until 4 December at Collegiate Pool.
Unfortunately our Kinder – Year 2 program has been cancelled for 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions and unavailability of pools in the south of the state.
