Principals Report
As we head into the second half of Term 1 I would like to say how impressed I am with student learning and achievements in classrooms. It is clear to see that structures put in place by teachers are supporting student learning which in turn is impacting student results in a positive way. This aligns with the DoE's commitment – Together we inspire and support all learners to succeed as connected, resilient, creative and curious thinkers.
Year 6 Camp – I was lucky enough to attend the Year 6 Camp last week, I was so proud of students and staff who attended the 3 day camp. Everyone involved was enthusiastic and excited and throughout each of the days we completed many activities despite the challenging weather. I would like to thank Mr Gatenby for his organisation of the camp along with his team of staff members who supported. School camps only run if staff are willing to give up their own time from family and friends so we are very lucky to have staff who support camps.
School Association – We are looking to extend our School Association team and are inviting community members to join our AGM to be held on Tuesday 7 April at 6.00pm. This is a great opportunity to have input into future planning of our school. A letter was sent home to all parents last week explaining the process and group further.
Student Wellbeing Survey – Years 4-6 students will undertake the 2020 Student Wellbeing Survey beginning Monday 16 March and concluding Friday 3 April. A separate parent/carer letter will be sent home today with more information and an option to opt out.
Novel Coronavirus - Please see a separate letter attached to this newsletter which explains the latest DoE update regarding the Novel Coronavirus.
Lil sessions – We would like to let our community know that we are adding a LiL session to our schedule for the remainder of Term 1 on Mondays. Outside Play and Story Time 1:45pm – 2:45pm. Join us in the ELC Pit to share some books and stories together; a fun way to help your child develop their listening, memory and word skills. There’ll also be time to enjoy a play time outside too.
Shave for a Cure – Today we held our Shave for a Cure event to raise money to support a cure for cancer. One of our students Shonae was the catalyst for the event volunteering to have her hair cut off in front of the whole school during lunchtime today. Our students raised over $500 and Shonae's cut hair will be sent off to be made into a wig to support cancer patients. Well done to Shonae - we are very proud of your efforts!
