I would like to start this week's newsletter with a big thankyou to our community for their engagement and participation in school events we have conducted over the past 2 weeks. Our focus in 2019 has been to provide our community with opportunities to engage in children's learning and feel welcome in learning spaces across the school.
Recently our school participated in Book Week. We celebrated "Reading is My Secret Power" with events such as a book parade, where students across our school dressed up as their favourite book character. Our SVT students organised the "Great Big Book Swap" event where all students were able to take home a book to keep. Finally, our School Association put on a "Book Fair" which raised $700 for the purchase of new books.
All parents and carers received letters home last week which contained feedback survey details. We would really appreciate it if families could complete these surveys using online login details or return paper copies to the office. Feedback from our community is vital for our school to continue to grow and improve.
I had the pleasure of thanking a group of community volunteers yesterday at our "Garden Blitz" event. We had a number of parents volunteer their time to support maintenance and construction in our garden. MONA 24CG Program also provided us with staff to support the day which was fantastic. Some tasks that were completed includes wildlife proofing of our fences, tree planting and carving a totem pole which will be erected in the coming weeks.
This week also saw a number of students represent our school at the Winter Sports Carnival. I was able to visit the boys and girls football reps and netball reps. All of our students were doing an amazing job competing.
