Inter-School Cross Country Carnival
Congratulations to selected grade 3-6 students who represented Austins Ferry at the Division B SPSSA Inter-school cross country carnival on 4th June at Bayview Secondary College. All our students displayed fantastic effort, showed great sportsmanship, determination, perseverance and ran to the best of their ability on a difficult course.
There were some standout performances with Maddison Hickey coming first in the grade 3 girls and the grade 4 boys team finishing second.
Tasmanian JackJumpers
On 22nd May we welcomed the Tasmania JackJumpers to our school who conducted clinics for kinder to grade six students. The day was filled with engaging games, skill building activities and lots of laughter. Adding to the excitement students were thrilled to meet Jack the Jack Jumper, the team mascot. There were plenty of high fives, smiles on students faces and lots of memories from the day.
State Primary School Athletics Carnival
Congratulations to Brady and Addison Bluett who represented the Southern Primary School Sports Association Inc (SPSSA) at the State Primary School Athletics Carnival on 9th May which was held at St Leonards Athletics Centre, Launceston.
The SPSSA team was selected from the Champions Athletics Carnival held on 11th April. They both should be incredibly proud of themselves.
School Futsal tournament
On the 15th May a grade 4/5 boys team represented our school in the Futsal Tasmania school competition. We are extremely proud of all our players who represented our school. All players played their hearts out, showed great teamwork, skills, and they showed great improvement with each game.
PE - Term 2
At the begging of the term our focus in PE was on fitness with all students completing the beep test. Following this, students were very busy preparing for our school cross country, including walking and running the course. Students completed the course a few times and it was evident that all students were improving each week with practice and encouraged strong performances in the school cross country.
Currently our focus is learning about golf. Students have been developing a range of skills such as their grip, stance, control, accuracy, swing technique, hand-eye coordination and patience. The students have been having a fantastic time. Our next focus is hockey.
P-6 School Cross Country
Well done to our wonderful prep to year six students who participated in our annual school cross country carnival on the 20th May. It was fantastic to observe the wonderful efforts of all our students who gave their all, encouraged each other and crossed the finish line with a smile. Many students showed blistering speed to reach the finish line, which made for some very close tussles. The overall winning house for cross country 2025 was Ruby on 97 points followed by Sapphire 96 points and then Emerald 89 points.
A big thank you to all the families who came along to cheer from the sidelines. Your support helps build a strong school community and we loved having you there.
